Groups of the Soviet Forces in Germany - is this article accurate?

by ruincreep

Hello,

I wrote a very short summary of the history of the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany after WW2 until the reunification of Germany for my blog. It's based on Wikipedia mostly, I only extracted the points that I found relevant for the article. Can you point out obviously wrong information/errors please?

I would say the blog is pretty accurate (I didn't check the numbers of troops). One thing you might want to emphasize is the social segregation of GSSD troops from the East German population and the initial extemporaneous nature of the Soviet occupation. Unlike the NATO troops in the FRG, Soviet soldiers largely kept to themselves in their duties. his was in part due to Soviet authorities attempting to rein in the marauding of Soviet troops in the immediate aftermath of 1945. The administrative division of the Eastern Zone itself were very poorly thought out and often the Soviets cribbed the plans of American bureaucrats.
