What were the views and reaction of other nations toward a unified Italy?

Countries like France and Austria always had their presence in Italy, I was just wondering what were their thoughts on a unified Italy. Also the views of other nations.

I'm on mobile atm so I can't elaborate much, but I will give a brief amount of background.

I am not entirely aware of French and Austrian opinions on Italian unification from their point of view, but I do know that Napoleon III, Emperor of France at the time, did support Italian unification. Whether or not he supported it from a philosophical view or as a means to check Austrian/German power is what I do not know for sure.

It can safely be said that Austria opposed Italian unification because it would have reduced Austrian influence in Italy. During the First (1848), Second (1859), and Third (1866) Italian Wars of Independence, Italy's primary opponent was Austria mainly due to Austria's conrrol over Lombardy and Venetia, which were annexed by Italy in 1859 and 1866, respectively.

I could potentially find more information on personal opinions regarding Italian unification, but as an Italian-American, it is a fascinating subject for me.
