Using the current definition of race to describe people during that time is pointless since it doesn't apply.

Race is a social construct, like laws and money are. They only exist because people want them to. The Egyptians did not have a concept of being black or white.

Ancient Egyptians had a number of ethnicities (in the modern sense), still going with the modern sense of our understanding of race although it has no scientific basis, the early Egyptians (founders) were african in origin. In a modern sense they would be considered black.
