In the first half of the 1800s (1800-1850, what would the female nickname "Poll" be short for in the Americas?

My apologies for the easy question... I know it won't spark much discussion but I am having trouble searching Google for the answer. The word 'Poll' ends up skewing the results in the wrong direction.

I checked the rules... hope this doesn't violate anything. Thanks in advance!!

My only guess would be "Polly," which was still a very popular girl's name by 1880 in the US according to the SSA registry (the records I'm looking at don't go back any further). It was the 245th most popular girl's name in 1880.

You can see a popularity graph of "Polly" here or see the SSA statistics by searching here.

Try this search page. Polly appears to be a derivative of Mary, interestingly.
