Let's say I'm a Catholic Priest during the rise of the Soviet Union. I'm willing to cooperate but I still want to hold mass and be a normal priest. What would my fate be?

I'm aware that the Russian Orthodox Church was persecuted during the rise of the Soviet Union but they also were considered to be associated with the Czarist government. What about Catholics in Lithuania or other parts of the Soviet Union where Catholics lived?

Also what about the same scenario but in Poland after it becomes communist?

Not an answer but a follow up question: is Karol Wojtyla (Pope John Paul II)'s story typical or exceptional example of a priest facing Soviet oppression? Edit: if I recall correctly he was a priest in Poland.
