Are you referring to bans on ownership and domestic sale, or to bans on imports like the recent IZHMASH ban? There's an important difference, as IZHMASH-built guns are still legal as long as they're already inside the US, you merely can't import them from Russia right now.

Also note that there's also a difference between banning a weapon entirely versus requiring a federal license.
