After the Revolutionary War, were the captured British imprisoned or allowed to go back to wherever they came from? If they were imprisoned, where were they imprisoned?
In terms of Yorktown, the wikipedia says the officers were allowed to go home implying that the enlised men were sent to prison camps. I dont have any specific recollection at the moment.
In general, the americans had several camps located in the interior of the country so as to forestall any attempts to free them. Frederick MD has the famous Hessian barracks were soldiers I believe some from Saratoga were housed. Many of the British were held in new England towns I seem to recall Danbury CT being one such place.
This site mentions Reading PA having housed over 1000 mostly german prisoners. Many on parole.

other cities that held British troops: Hartford CT; York PA; Lancaster, PA; Winchester, VA; Charlottesville, VA; Rutland, MA; Cambridge, MA; Newport, RI.
interesting article on the fate of Burgoyne's troops at Saratoga. They expected to be paroled but the american authorities had to overruled the surrender terms:
