My great-grandfather brought this back from Germany. All I can determine is that it is a picture of Hitler, and on the back it says "Heil Hitler!"
Can anyone provide any illuminating information, perhaps even a translation of the text on the back? Is this actually a propaganda leaflet or does it serve some other purpose? Etc. etc.
Basically, what is this Hitler picture I have?
It's a collectable, you collected the photographic prints and stuck them in special albums.
This is picture nr. 82, titled "Heil Hitler! Heil Hitler! The Führer driving to a rally." The headline of the set reads: "Collector's set nr. 8: Germany Awakens", subtitle: "The origins, struggle and victory of NSDAP".
edit: the block of text is more technical information than propaganda: The linen-bound collector's set nr. 8 "Germany Awakens" includes picture sets 28, 29, 30, 31, 32 and 33. The cover and book decorations were designed by SS-Obersturmführer Felix Albrecht, the texts are by Wilfrid Bade, author of the book "SA conquers Berlin". The wealth of photographic material was supplied by the Reich-Bildbericherstatter [photo reporter] of NSDAP Heinrich Hoffmann who also had artistic control over the reporoductions. The numerous images in the album as well as the panorama of the Standartenweihe [flag consecration] from the last Reichsparteitag [umm... party conference] in 1933 serve to represent with overwhelming force the magnitude of the events of our times.
