What were the plans the Iranian government had prior to the Iran-Iraq War? I once heard that Iran began to sell much of the military equipment that it had acquired from the United States, due to their belief that they were entering a new, peaceful age, only to have to buy it back in order to fight Iraq. Is this true? Were there any major reforms or national projects that were disrupted by the Iran-Iraq War?
