As far I know, a large part of the world no longer dines celebratorily with massive excesses of food. Feasting seemed like it was pretty much the go to party to throw for much of recorded history, but has pretty much died out among modern western cultures, with the exception of a few large ceremonial dinners, nominally "feasts" (such as Thanksgiving in the US and Canada). When, and even why, did this shift occur?
You could also argue that wedding receptions are feasts under your definition. You should clarify what exactly you mean by "feast" and why the modern day equivalents are different. '
