I've worn glasses for long time, and I was thinking about how they work and who the brilliant person is who developed them.
I'm wondering who developed them?
How long people have been using glasses?
I understand the concept of how they work, but if anyone has a little more background on the earliest glasses and development, I'm very curious.
In 1000 AD, a glass sphere known as a reading stone (magnifying glass) was placed directly on top of the paper in order to magnify the letters. The Italians, using this technology, developed the first glasses somewhere between 1268-1289. These were worn on the bridge of the nose.
Ben Franklin invented the bifocals in 1784.
