What are the differences and similarities between the Canadian alcohol prohibition and the US one?
As /u/Searocksandtrees points out, some provinces did indeed have prohibition! It led to many bootleggers (some regions like Yarmouth still have bootleggers, having passed the tradition down in families), and many rum runners. St. Pierre and Miquelon were popular places for ships to head to to pick up liquor, and bring it back to Atlantic Canada, at least, as they were close, but controled by France.
If you can find a copy, you might find Ted Hennigar's "The Rum Running Years" of interest; he collected some personal stories from the Rum Runners in Atlantic Canada.
