I could imagine that such a shift would benefit women (because society maybe cant afford to exclude them from the workforce), but also that it could also hurt them (there are less men to compete for in terms of finding a partner, and this can lead men to dictate the terms in ways more favorable to them). Is there any consensus on the typical post war effects on a country that loses a large amount of men from one particular generation?
As this question has gone unanswered I hope I'll be allowed to suggest the War of the Triple Alliance which virtually destroyed Paraguay's male population.
