German units, specifically the heavy tank battalions boast impressive performance.
I'm having trouble finding similarly exceptional units from the Red Army at the Brigade and below.
Taking into account Stalin's pre-war purge, his distrust of the Army, and the end of war upheaval, ordinary Red Army units were not given acclaim like their American or British counterparts. In fact, quite the opposite, and this owed much to the Communist system. Even General Zhukov - man of the hour after capturing Berlin - was sidelined by Stalin, as Stalin feared his popularity.
