I recently saw a special that at one point discussed the 801 and it said that after the war the US made BMW sign a treaty, in which contained a clause that forbid them from producing jet engines. That intrigued me, and I was curious to know if the engines were really THAT good, or what other engines or manufacturers of engines could accomplish at that time compared to when the 801 came out. I know it says not to ask what if questions, but if the engine had been produced 5 years sooner, would it have impacted the outcome of the European front?
