Absolutely they did. Under colonial rule, most places in Africa had some kind of settler population from the colonial motherland. South Africa is an obvious example, but you also had Namibia with large German and Afrikaner populations (to this day), Zimbabwe and Kenya with large English communities, Angola and Mozambique with Portuguese settlers, French pieds noirs in Algeria and Italians in Libya. Many of these settlers, particularly in the Portuguese colonies and in Algeria, returned to the motherland after the end of white rule.

In terms of present-day immigration, I have heard that the Portuguese are returning to Angola and Mozambique in search of jobs, but I cannot source that.
