I know very little about this event and wish to learn more. There is nothing in the book list regarding this specific revolution. Also, any recommendations for the next thirty or so years after that? Up until the 1950s maybe?
I will send a compiled list to one of the mods and hopefully some recommendations can be added to the book list on the side bar.
I read Thomas Benjamin's "La Revolucion: Mexico's Great Revolution as Memory, Myth, and History" for a seminar on the Mexican Revolution. My memory of it is a little fuzzy but I enjoyed it overall. It looks at the Revolution from multiple angles and has some excellent nontraditional elements (timelines, photographs, etc) which Benjamin uses to craft a narrative. Anything by Alan Knight, Frank Tannenbaum, and James W. Wilkie will also be informative and useful--they're three of the biggest names in the field of Mexican history (though by now all a bit outdated). If you're interested in anything more specific (such as workers' movements or women during the Revolution) I can link you to some articles as well!
