We know what kind of impact the barbarians had on the Roman Empire – but what impact did the empire's fall have on those barbarians who remained beyond the Rhine and the Danube? Did they get richer or poorer? Did their trade expand or shrink? Did their agricultural output rise or fall?
If i can piggy back here, I'd also like a snap shot of what Germanic society looked like before the fall (lets say around the time of Nero). Like how technologically advanced? What did their government look like? Rough population estimates?
