Well given Ancient times and recorded agriculture spans approx 5000-7000 years before we even get to 'BC' and you can fairly call up until about 600 AD 'Ancient' (certainly antiquity), and then you add in the fact that agriculture across the face of the Earth isn't 100% farming all the time (pastoral peoples still exist even today, planting and leaving crops before surviving off hunting/gathering/herdsmanship). Add into that different agricultural ecologies (rice growing populations vs wheat growing populations vs quinoa vs couscous vs maize vs barley etcetera...) and you're basically asking a question that can only be answered in the vaguest of terms.
