How come there is a reasonable Portuguese population in Luxembourg?

According to wikipedia there are arround 88 000 Portuguese living in Luxembourg. That seems quite high for a country with aroun 550 000 people. They even have a Portugues radiostation. So why is that, why did a lot of Portugese go to Luxembourg and when?

In the 1960-70, to escape the dictatorship, and also because Europe was lacking manpower.

The most popular destination where France, Germany and Luxembourg

The reasons for choosing Luxembourg were

  • It was a growing country because of the Goodyear industrial complex and because Luxembourg was the center of the ECSC.
  • Also around 1973 the emigration policies in Germany and France changed, prompting a larger number of Portugueses to flow to Luxembourg

Around 1977 the Portuguese were the largest foreign community in Luxembourg.
