What do people recommend as good books on the subject? I checked the askhistorians book list, but it didn't have a section on the thirty years war.
The Thirty Years War: Europe's Tragedy by Peter H. Wilson is doorstopper of a book.
The Thirty Years War edited by Geoffrey Parker is much shorter than the Wilson text, but worth checking out.
Geoff Mortimer's Wallenstein: The Enigma of the Thirty Years War is a well-received biography one of the War's chief generals.
