As some of you may of noticed, a recent reddit change means you're now required to give a reason when you report a post or comment. The options include some generic reasons like "spam" and "vote manipulation" that aren't particularly relevant to /r/AskHistorians as well as a custom "other" field.
We just wanted to make it clear that despite the change its business as usual as far as reporting posts here on /r/AskHistorians is concerned. The mods very much appreciate people liberally reporting posts that break our subreddit rules – it makes ours jobs a lot easier. You don't have to fill in a reason (just select "other" and leave the box blank), we can usually tell!

I'm surprised "subreddit rules" isn't among the default options.
This is a great idea. I noticed it in IAmA, too. Just clicking "report" seems to me to impose too much of a workload on the mods, but clicking report and messaging the mods about it imposes too much of a workload on... me. I'm lazy.
Are the categories reported set Reddit wide, or can they be customized by the subreddits?
Is the username reporting visible to the mods, or is reporting still anonymous?
I look forward to reporting the sexualisation of minors on a regular basis.
So what's the over/under on the amount of mod mail you'll get from people trying out the report button on this thread? :-)

Hey, it means that I don't have to send modmail anymore when I report things that don't seem that obvious. Bonus!
