You will find a large number of portraits of Elizabeth I. Generally her image in most portraits resembles that in other portraits. It is likely, therefore, that the portraits are fairly "realistic", and that she actually did look something like them.
Unless we can invent a time machine and go back and look at Elizabeth I, or discover that elusive photographic footage of her taken by technologically advanced aliens, it is hard to know precisely how realistic these portraits are, or which ones most faithfully represent an actual likeness of the Virgin Queen.
