If this is the wrong sub I'm sorry, you can delete this and direct me to the correct sub, but I am currently a junior History/secondary education major (I know, it'll be impossible to find a job after I graduate). I was just kind of wondering what jobs or internships there are for me while I'm still in school that relate to history? I have worked with "gifted" 4 and 5 year olds for two years now but I am kind of looking for a change of pace. Any help would be great, thanks!
Doing research work with professors, museums, research libraries/archives (ex. Library of Congress, presidential libraries), historical societies/associations, historical advocacy groups (ex. Civil War Trust) are all good starting places.
What era/field of history are you interested in?
e: I wouldn't go the military route. The military is downsizing post-Iraq/Afghanistan and the peacetime military is tough to go into career-wise. There's a huge surplus of talented, career-driven officers trying to claw their way up the totem pole. Getting promoted past O-3 (US Army/USAF-Captain, US Navy-Lieutenant) is gonna be tough for the next few years.
