Is the English Salmon Preservation Act of 1285 the first environmental protection legislation?

I think it would depend on what you define as "Environmental Protection Legislation." Laws regulating what people could and could not take out of the natural environment are extremely old, irrigation allotments have been regulated since Mesopotamia for example. The Forest Laws are an earlier example in England of legislation aimed at protecting the natural environment (or at least maintaining suitable habitat for game species).
