Did Stalin ever ask Roosevelt and Churchill to deploy troops to fight the Germans in the east? Or was he only interested in the creation of a second (Western) front. Why and why not.
There was a pretty good chance but the Allies lost it. If the Allies managed to hold Norway from the Nazi coup/invasion and stopped Finland from turning to Germany for protection from Russia then it's quite possible a Northern front would've become more accessible and allowed Allied troops to enter the Eastern war through it.
Am watching a documentary right now and it said Churchill told Stalin that he would not be able to help on the eastern front beyond equipment and supplies and that Stalin was pissed.. I have never heard that before so i thought id ask.
