Why do we still use the two names Hercules and Heracles? Aren't they referring to the same god, but just in different languages? Why make this distinction when referring to him in the English language? We would not say that a German-speaker believes in Gott.

First off Heracles/Hurcules was a classical hero and demigod, but not quite a god. That said, it is not uncommon for western sources to say that Muslims worship Allah, despite Allah being the Arabic word for the Abrahamic God worshipped in Christianity and Judaism.
