Kilts, bagpipes and a number of such traditions have certainly flourished in the Maritime provinces of Canada: Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and PEI, as well as Newfoundland. Canada has a number of Highland military regiments and at least one Highland/Gaelic College in Nova Scotia. Bagpipes are not uncommon at weddings and public events across the country. So I'm not sure what you mean about these traditions not surviving in "the Americas". Could you clarify?
