Unfortunately this brings up the dreaded "what is music?" question. If we're okay with some vocalisations that animals make being considered a form of music, well, we're in trouble. If music can be said to be some sort of "organised sound" then we may never know, as the act of using ones body percussively or the mouth, lungs, nose, tongue, vocal chords etc. would be as old as people. The invention of instruments would be irrelevant, unless you wanted to know that too. In which case, again, some sort of percussive instrument such as clapping sticks together might be as old as opposable thumbs.

As for valve instruments. The valve mechanism is actually misleadingly complex and wasn't developed until the 1800s.
