Columbus is credited with discovering america, but obviously people had sailed there long before him. Im interested as to where the aborigines and native americans came from and around what time period. My assumption is that they were sailors from africa.
The original Australians came from mainland Asia as far as I know. I'm not super familiar with that migration.
The Native Americans came to America from Siberia across the Bering Strait. At the time they came (around or earlier than 20,000 years ago), the Bering Strait was actually a land mass that we call Beringia. Sea levels were lowered due to global glaciation. A lot of the water was stored up in the ice that made up the glaciers. But people were in fact able to walk across from Siberia to Alaska. There is recent evidence that the region of Siberia that at least some Native American populations came from is near Lake Baikal.
Humans left Africa (~50,000 years ago), went all over Europe and Asia, and then some of the people in northeast Asia walked to North America.
