How long would it take to travel from London to Amsterdam in the late 1800s?

In Dracula, Van Helsing seems to be able to go from London to Amsterdam, and vice versa, in a day or so. Is this accurate? Would anyone be able to make the trip that quickly, or would a faster voyage be more expensive?

A boat from England to Amsterdam would take about 12 hours. London is in South England so that helps, but it's still unlikely there would always be a boat available to take him.
