During the occupation by US forces, Japan set up brothels to stem the flow of gang rapes. Was anything similar setup in Germany and if not, was there a greater incidence of sexual violence against German women by US troops?

Also, are there any reported numbers of half-Japanese half-American children being born in Japanese brothels?

Did Japan's brothel system result in fewer attacks against non-prostitutes?

I don't know how US soldiers acted towards the Japanese / German population but you shouldn't assume that they only committed crime towards civilians from vanquished countries because they were also a big source of trouble .... in France !

In the port city of Le Havre, the mayor was bombarded with letters from angry residents complaining about drunkenness, jeep accidents, sexual assault — “a regime of terror,” as one put it, “imposed by bandits in uniform.”

[...]

But the citizens of Le Havre wrote letters of protest to their mayor, and not just regarding prostitution. We are "attacked, robbed, run over both on the street and in our houses," wrote one citizen in October 1945. "This is a regime of terror, imposed by bandits in uniform."

But it seems like their British counterparts weren't much better :

There were similar accounts from all over the country, with police reports listing holdups, theft and rapes. In Brittany, drunk soldiers destroyed bars when they ran out of cognac. Sexual assaults were commonplace in Marseilles. In Rouen, a soldier forced his way into a house, held up his weapon and demanded sex.

Unfortunately, it seems that the authorities didn't do much to prevent rape, according to the articles above, they did try to open a brothel in Le Havre (close to where the invasion of Normandy took place) but closed it soon afterwards because they didn't want the press back home to depict these war heroes as criminals who spent their time in brothels.

Even more unfortunate, when the US military finally acted against these criminals, with the help of local authorities, a majority of those who were arrested, tried, disciplined and sometimes executed were US ... black soldiers, even if they were probably not the only ones who committed those crimes. US propaganda promised all their soldiers a land of free sex ("the magazine Life fantasized at the time, "inhabited by 40,000,000 hedonists who spend all their time eating, drinking (and) making love") but when it got out of hand, the ones who got punished were the usual scapegoats.

If you want to know more, you should check the wiki page about rape during the liberation of France or read Robert's book as well as the pages concerning rapes during the occupation of Germany and Japan
