There's genetic evidence that at least one native american woman was brought back to Iceland, likely around the year 1000. Around 80 Icelandic people in 4 families were found to carry mitochondrial DNA (which only passes down the female line) that is typically only found in east-asian and native american populations and that is not typical of Greenlanders or Inuit:
