I watched America: The Story of Us and thought it was really fantastic and have been searching for something to scratch the itch of another similar type of series. Sorry if this is the wrong sub, but you lot seemed like the best people to ask.
The Death of Yugoslavia, a BBC documentary covering the run up to the war and the war itself, is excellent IMO. Extensive interviews with lots of people, from those on the ground all the way up to Milosevic and Tuđman. It's about 5 hours long and all available on youtube.
The World at War is a great introduction to World War 2. Especially since it covers life in Germany under the Nazis, and doesn't demonize Germans, even though the creators had every reason to.
