You might try looking up information on Victor Hugues (there isn't too much on him out there... yet) and, more usefully, the Brigand War, which affected St. Lucia but seemed to be just as profoundly felt in St. Vincent & the Grenadines - especially Grenada, where Hugues set up a planter named Julien Fédon as a revolutionary leader.

It's kind of important that this happens well after the Haitian Revolution, and is just as much related to that as to the French Revolution.
