Linking to a picture of the Memphis Belle a WWII B-17
It has bomb insignia's for each mission and swastika's for fighter kills but what are the stars? Some are red and some are solid yellow.

I believe the yellow stars designate a mission that the plane was a group leader on, while the red ones designate a mission where the plane led the entire wing.
