Today i'd say most people use a drip machine, Senseo (blech), or some Nespresso type machine. None of those of those existed before the 20th/21st century.

I don't think it's the earliest method of making coffee in the Netherlands, but the kraantjespot (tap pot) has been around since the 18th century. Ground coffee would go in, with water poured on top. After it had brewed long enough the tap could be used to get the coffee, because the tap sits above the bottom of the pot the grounds will stay inside.

To keep the coffee hot a small burner could be placed under the pot.
