How aware was German military intelligence of Japan's plans regarding the US/Pearl Harbor, and what was their opinion of it?

Not aware. The US had broken the Japanese diplomatic code (Purple) in 1940, and if they had communicated some warning or description to their ambassador to Germany to pass on, it would have given the US a warning of the attack. I've found one reference that the Japanese warned Germany on December 3rd that negotiations had deadlocked and war might be imminent, but this is a warning of nothing specific.
