I would suggest you take a look at Sacred Luxuries: Fragrance, Aromatherapy and Cosmetics in Ancient Egypt by Lise Manniche. Even if she doesn't answer your question directly, take a look at the sources she cites. The book also sounds a bit more popular, so it shouldn't be too heavy reading.

I do know that cosmetics were found in King tut's tomb, and but much of it was stolen, since it was quite valuable. Evidently, you could see the robbers hands in the makeup. That could also be a place to look, since there is a huge amount of stuff on Tut.
