I'm not sure about the earlier part of the war but in the later part the Germans were definitely more scared of the Russians than the other Allied nations. By the time Allied and Soviet troops had invaded Germany and they knew the war was over the German government and army was hoping that the Allies would push faster and that most of occupied Germany would fall under the management of the Allied forces. There were a few reasons for this. The Germans and the Nazi government hated communism and didn't want to live in a communist run state. Also the German soldiers and top brass were well aware of how horribly their soldiers and policies treated Russian soldiers and citizens when they invaded Russia. They were worried that they would want to enact as much vengeance as possible when they took over Germany. Russians/ the Slavic people were seen as sub humans to the Germans and they would treat captured Russians much worse than their Allied counterparts. Slavs were seen as a slave race and as a result were shipped off to labor/death camps and were starved. Germans were worried that the Soviets would do the same thing to them and possibly worse when they took over.
