Im interested in learning about the history of many of the worlds countries and am curious if there is a database that could provide me with their summaries.
Just to clarify, are you asking for something more academic than Wikipedia (articles for each country typically include a section near the beginning for history, e.g. this one for France) or an online encyclopaedia (e.g. here's the Encyclopaedia Britannica article on France)?
While wikipedia is usually seen as not a reliable source, I would say that in this situation it would be your best bet. Not only are their articles on general countries very much moderated, but a lot of them offer citations and sources for where they got their information. From there you just follow the bibliography as with anything that catches your interest.
