In Bronze age mesopotamia, after the amorites moved in, many sacrifices were buried under structures. For example, after dedication of a temple, an animal sacrifice would be buried in a pit underneath. Relatedly, bodies were buried essentially in the backyards of their family's houses, which led to very few houses being bought or sold.
