On the question about reporting posts, the answer I would have chosen if it was available was "No, I'm not fast enough"

Just so you know I answered the question about comment frequency with the least frequent answer possible but the actual answer is that I'm scared shitless to say anything. Also about the podcast I do know about them but I just can't be asked to listen to any because I don't have the attention span for the mindless entertainment variety let alone an educational podcast.

It took me five minutes to submit mine! And that's INCLUDING an epic battle with an invading wasp. Nice and concise ^_^

I find these choices of answers quite...unsatisfactory. Just because I have not used the wiki content does not mean that I was unaware of it or believe it to be useless information, I have just not had either reason or opportunity to use it. I believe the answers you receive to this question may not give you accurate answers, especially since it is required to answer in order to continue the survey.

Well, looks like finally I will be able to contribute with a little more than a couple upvotes!

This might be the right time to make a comment. I never post anything because I don't want to dilute the quality of this subreddit. I like that this place could also be known as /r/deleted. You guys are doing a good job, so keep it up. Sometimes I wish there could be like a holiday from the strict rules though. Maybe just one day a year where jokes or one liners do not get deleted. A special day where there is a little bit more leniency, if its a very good history related joke.

What qualifications do you actually need to get a flair anyway?

I saw "graduate degree completed" relative to history, but not the tiers; there are also issues with the separation between ranks in North American versus other university systems. (I'm thinking of the hard-to-categorize Dutch doctorandus of yore here, but there are many others.) Also, for those of us employed as academic (university or college-type) historians, it might be interesting to see just how many of us there are.

Did, did you just lump all of Australia, NZ and Pacific Islands together? Because that's a bit like asking if they speak European. Plus, it's deeply offensive to Marmite eaters. Or, is that a reference to trans-atlantic and you're lumping UK and East Coast USA together for some reason?

As a relatively new lurker, I felt somewhat unqualified answering some of the questions. I've never had to deal with the moderation staff, so I didn't feel right answering questions about how I thought the mods were doing.

Of course, I didn't even realize until close to the end that some of the questions weren't required, so maybe I could have skipped a few of those. Oh well.

All in all I think this subreddit is great. Keep up the great work, people. :)

It seems like most questions being asked are replied to using a link to a previously asked question. How do I think of original, interesting questions?

I wish you could select multiple options for education - I have a vocational diploma but am also nearing the end of an undergraduate degree.

About the question "What's your educational level?":

I checked "Prefer not to answer", because I have a "Mittlere Reife" (which is about equivalent to a High School Diploma) and a finished apprenticeship (3 year education in school and at a company). I'm not sure what the US equivalent for an apprenticeship is, or if there even is one and it probably isn't really all that important in this census, but I felt like none of the choices represented my level. It's well below an university degree, but above just a high school diploma.

Do you report comments and questions that break the rules? *

I just don't know the rules well enough and trust the mods will take down everything anyway

I tried to shrug my shoulders and go 'meh', but then I remembered all the people who hung up on me/slammed the door in my face when I tried to do data-collection in my final year of study and was overwhelmed with guilt.

So I did it.

made a suggestion for a conversation thread to be stickied to the sub every week for anyone who wants to comment on the questions or answers in the sub. i know a few others feel the way i do in this sub that i'm just afraid to ever comment in a thread because i know it will most likely be removed because the threads arent for just comments but for answers to the question(maybe i need to re-read the rules).

iguess i'm just used to going to forums with a theme (videogames, music, history ect.) that also have a section or stickied thread for random conversation/free talk. a similar thread could be done here(with restrictions of course) so people can have a place to post without fear of getting it removed. it would also be a nice place to ask the sub if the question they have on their mind meets the criteria for an r/AskHistorians thead. the rules for making threads on here are ok but sometimes i'm still just unsure. i'm hesitant to ask many of my questions due to being unsure if it will just be removed or not

The survey has too many required answers. Forcing someone to answer a question they don't want to answer, will result in them providing false information making the survey results useless.
