Perhaps not exactly what you're looking for, as it was a civil war, but the Girondists in Bordeaux immediately came to mind.

During the 1793 Federalist Revolts during the French Revolution the Commission Populaire - which had seized control of Bordeaux from the Jacobins and declared itself in opposition to the 'tyranny of Paris' - made no attempts to withdraw the Bordeaux battalions from fighting the War in the Vendee - arguing that they were not counter-revolutionary themselves, only anti-Jacobin. This effectively meant they were fighting both with (in defence of republicanism in the Vendee) and against (excessive centralisation and the usurpation of the Revolution by the Montagnards in their Federalist Revolt) the Assembly in Paris.
