Since it is increasingly customary to mark our own little historical events here: I am happy to tell everyone that my better half passed the bar on his first try about a month back, and was sworn in as a lawyer this Monday. :)

Alright. Free for all fits my question nicely I believe.

I play Arma 3 (/r/arma ) in a clan that plays it as close to reality as possible (it's a military simulation shooter). We are constantly looking for inspiration for missions etc. I have a degree in history and I am interested in military history, so I thought it would be fun to "re-enact" some of history's most famous battles in the game.

Does anyone have some suggestions for some historical battles/encounters/scenarios relevant for a PLATOON (30 ish) size? Perhaps a way to look them up myself? I have tried wiki'ing it but it's hard. Perhaps some famous AARs from WW2, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan etc? Preferably modern style: Post WW2-warfare (tanks, and helicopter support needs to be present preferably).

As a recent college graduate who got degrees in economics and political science, is it too much of a stretch for someone with that background to pursue a career teaching history in a primary or secondary school environment? Any advice for someone like me who is seriously considering such a career move?

I'm not sure if there are any historians here that specialize in the modern middle east, or terrorism, because of the 20 year rule, but what is your sober assessment of the threat that IS/ISIS/ISIL/DAESH poses? Is it as bad as the media makes it out to be, or is this just another radical Islamist group?

Ck2 is releasing its new expansion in a few days. One of the new features is the ability to create custom titles. I'm considering for my first game to either create the kingdom of Iceland or the empire of Africa. Thoughts?

I'm reading Martin Pegler's Sniping in the Great War and, for an inexplicable reason, it has me hungry for more war diaries, letters, songs and poems.

Can anyone reccomend a good collection? Any conflict will do.

In RPGs, it is common for the townsfolk to ask you to go on fetch quest, delivery quest, and rescuing people as soon as you, a stranger enter town. Was this common place, a rarity, or games just making stuff up to make the world feel alive?

So recently I got myself Shogun 2: Total War. Once I get past that slightly steep learning curve, this game starts to grow on me. So historians of /r/AskHistorians/: Do you play any history-related games? Any games that you would recommend?

Any overlap of the users here in /r/AskHistorians and myarmoury.com?

Personally, I think that the quality of discussion on matters of historical weapons and armour is of much greater quality there. Has anyone else made these observations?
