any reports on how dönitz reacted when he was told he was now the boss of what used to be the reich ?
how did the peace talks start ? which diplomatic channels if any at all were used ? how was the circumstances of the peace treaty signing decided and communicated ?
During the period after Hitler's suicide but before the German surrender to the Allies, there were a lot of negotiations going on. Karl Donitz, his successor, attempted to make peace with some of the Allies, but be allowed to continue fighting the Soviets. The Allies would accept nothing but an unconditional surrender, which they eventually received.
