How about for the other empires of the time period such as Britain, France, the Austro Hungarian Empire, and the Ottomans? Specifically how so in propaganda? (I'll admit this is for a history project sorry)
No. Patria means "fatherland" in Latin and πάτρα (patra) means the same in Greek. I'm sure the words were meant to whip up frenzy in times of battle and stuff, but I know them from the literature (plays, speeches, and epics) I've had to translate. I can't think of specific examples from texts, but the words were always (at least from what I remember) used to evoke a sense of pride and longing.
