Berlin is a city where thinking about historical events is inescapable - and also one that has a plethora of historical tours. I was wondering what small, vivid, or perhaps overlooked locations historians might think are particularly interesting in this great city?
I don't necessarily know if it is 'under appreciated,' but the Berlin City Museum houses some fairly interesting pieces (including a large section of the Berlin Wall), and is in a lovely part of the city. Link to website: http://www.berlin.de/mauer/museen/stadtmuseum/index.en.html
Overlooked by all but locals is the old Tempelhof Airfield, which was the airfield used for landing supplies during the Berlin Airlift.
Now, the beautiful thing is, the locals love the field as a park so much they have fought tooth and nail to keep it all as it was. Theres even one of the planes and an old US Army mobile boarding staircase. And its free, just take the S-bahn there and walk in and down the old runway!
