I just want to add this depends on in which country we are talking about.

I can not remember a single Norwegian newspaper with sport on the last page. It is normally in an internal section or in a separate volume. More often than not, the back page contained stories from the front page as it is printed at the same time as the front page. This means late breaking stories can be printed without changing anything but the front and last page, making it easy update the paper even after normal printing has started.
