It depends on the field, but many primary sources have been translated into English or other widespread modern languages. Usually any reasonably good secondary overview of the topic should provide at least some references on what the major primary sources are, and one can find translations from there. In addition, there are a great many field-specific compilations of or collections of primary sources. Is there a specific topic you're trying to find primary sources on or research?
